Hey lovelies, as you guys should know that my mom is white and my dad is Spanish, making me half Spanish and half white. My mom and dad both speak the Spanish language fluently. Growing up my first language was English and my second was Spanish. My mom spoke Spanish to my dad and that is how they had their conversations and communicated with eachother. Growing up my dad would try to learn the English language as best as he could. He would go to night school and try other things like that to better his English. It was kind of hard growing up with this language barrier between me and my dad because Spanish was my second language and English was my first. When me and him used to go places I would have to be the translator for him to understand what was happening. I am not going to lie, but being his translator was kind of tough at times because when I was younger my Spanish speaking skills were kind of low. But, as time has gone on my Spanish has gotten better and now it is easier for me to communicate with him. Me learning more has brought us closer together. It even has brought me closer to my half brothers and sister who live all the way in Central America in Nicaragua. Now I have grown into this bilingual speaking girl and learning new stuff everyday about a beautiful language. Things like color and race and language should bring us together, not apart.
