Hello, my name is Sophia and this is my story just to let you all know who I am and why I created this website/blog page. On January 30th 2019 I was diagnosed with a stage 4 pancreatic endocrine tumor. This news completely turned my world and also my family's world upside down. I was sent to Joe Dimaggio Children's Hospital and spent nearly 2 weeks in the hospital. But then my doctors decided to send me all the way up the country to Boston, Massachusetts to get treated at one of the best cancer centers in the USA, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Thankfully my mother is from Massachusetts and I also spent my childhood summers and winters up there with my family so we were not that scared to go because we had the support of my family and friends. Then after spending nearly 3 months in Boston and living in a hotel with just me and my mom they decided to send me back down to Florida. Unfortunately the chemotherapy that I had done in Boston did not work. Me and my mom and my family where very disappointed in this news. Me and my mom packed up and went back down to Florida to try another round of chemo. Guess what? That round of chemo did not work either. So my team of doctors decided to try a different type of treatment. This treatment would be done at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa Florida. The best news is that this treatment is actually working and killing my tumor!! That's just a short summary of then to now. I still have so many stories and advice to share with all you cuties and I can not wait to tell you all of them.
